Windy for the west of the country, especially about Cook Strait and the western North Island from afternoon as northwesterly winds strengthen.
The winds tend strong southwest overnight for much of the North Island. The South Island’s West coast sees strong southwest winds right on the coast overnight also.
Heavy rain for the West Coast of the South Island easing by evening.
Western North Island areas see evening rain with heavy falls and possible thunderstorms.
Strong southwesterly winds for much of the North Island, easing a little from the afternoon.
Strong southwesterlies spread over the South Island during the evening & overnight.
Rain for the West Coast of the South Island and Southland may be briefly heavy for a time in the evening before easing.
Chance of a thunderstorm late afternoon / evening about Southland with some hail.
Some snow lowering to 300m for Southland and Otago in the evening then easing overnight.
Strong southwesterly winds ease over the country during the day, especially along the east coast.
