The cold southerly that has been sweeping the country is on its way out but make way for the winds to swing to gusty nor’ west this weekend.
That might be good news for some eastern and northern folk but more cloud is set to slide up the western and southern part of the mainland today even before the southerly has barely left out shores in the far northeast of the country.
Temperatures will warm up a little with this Tasman sea visitor but the winds will really pick up in strength tomorrow and Monday over many parts f the nation.
The next front is due to move across New Zealand later on Monday and into Tuesday which will see yet another sou’ west change but perhaps without the intensity of the one that is currently leaving our shores.

The models look quite good for Canterbury with mostly dry weather the next week after tomorrow and NE or lighter winds for them.
