Sunday’s national forecast – northern heat, southern rain

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Rain bands are moving into the South Island today as a heatwave spreads into many other regions. The West Coast rain has heavy falls over the next couple of days. The bulk of the rain moves into the West Coast with spillover into Southland, Otago and Canterbury.

Rain will be HEAVY on the West Coast – keep up to date with MetService rain warnings and watch for slips and flooding. For Southland rain will be patchy but heavier falls are likely tonight and overnight. A few spits and showers make it into Otago.

Elsewhere, the heatwave from Australia is setting in with temperatures rising further.
