If you have any questions about functionality of our website(s) or app, trying to locate maps or data, or have a simple comment/feedback - please post a comment below!

As of 2024 we will no longer be publishing questions related to weather forecasts if they are answered via our hyper-local hourly & 10 day forecasts, weather maps and regular daily and monthly weather & climate videos.

We’re a small NZ business with limited resources to respond to general weather questions. Our social media pages may be helpful to you, especially if you want to often talk (or groan!) about your local weather.Β You can find more resources from us here if that’s your thing.

Have questions of a commercial nature? Contact us directly here.

Thanks for your support!

Don’t forget to check out our RuralWeather.co.nzΒ website (great for event planning or attending + camping!) and also, our brand new Weather Alerting App!

Very informative weather information for Australia when you do them via You Tube.

I now only watch your videos for my Australian weather. You present them with a lot of good information and explain things very well.

Love the fly over’s too when you pick some random place and present the information.

Looking forward to your next Australian update. Love your work.

Hi Troy, thanks heaps for the awesome feedback – it’s really appreciated! Enjoy doing the flyovers too, always fun learning the geography of the planet πŸ™‚ Thanks for taking the time to write in.

Kitteh on 10/05/2024 6:30pm

G’day Phil & WW crew.
I have a question about something that pops up now and then under the β€˜NOW’ info. When it is particularly cold, the floating point number of NaNΒ° appears in the β€˜Humidex’ reading. Why is that? I’m asking b/c I find the non-number value interesting. Is it too cold for the thermometer, the system, or the programmers?? (LOL)

Please let a weather geek know and if it’s too cold for the programmers…..the answer is, as always, More Coffee!!! :))

Thanking you all @ WW for the stellar job you do.
Kitteh

WW Forecast Team on 11/05/2024 11:48pm

Hi Kitteh, thanks for the support πŸ™‚ Humidex is primarily a summer/heat thing. Once it gets too cold the Humidex no longer works (and we switch to wind chill, although we don’t display that in our forecasts but we do in our app, in Temperatures under β€œTrends”). So Humidex needs humidity but also warmth for it to start working. πŸ™‚

Jared on 10/05/2024 10:27am

Hi Phil & Weather Watch Team.
Follow you guys religiously.
You guys do an amazing job delivering the weather.
Understand how the highs out of the Tasman affect NZ.
Just wondering if & when those highs creep higher north on your modeling.
I’m Hawkes Bay based. (Pakipaki)
Would love some decent rain.
Keep up the the good work.
Cheers Jared.

WW Forecast Team on 11/05/2024 11:49pm

Hi Jared, thanks for the support πŸ™‚
The high pressure zones do show some signs of shifting further north but the anticyclonic flow around them can then bring in westerlies for Hawke’s Bay. What we really need is for a break in the highs to allow a Tasman or Sub-tropical low to move on it. That’s what will bring in the easterlies. Otherwise you want the highs to go much further south of NZ, so they help bring in easterlies to Hawke’s Bay.
Cheers,
– WW

New to your site. Two questions:
1) in your β€œnow” section, there appear to be different location available. Can I find out where they are?
2) Do you have any past weather data and if so how do I access it.
Your site significantly better than metservice πŸ™‚

WW Forecast Team on 9/05/2024 11:29pm

Hi Philip,
Welcome to our site!
1): You can try looking for them on our observations page here: https://www.weatherwatch.co.nz/maps-radars/observations/live-observations OR if you use our new app it will display a map with the nearest ones to your specific chosen location (and you can use the GPS β€˜find my location’ function).
2) Sadly in NZ there is no open weather data from MetService or NIWA (NZ Government’s two seperate tax funded/owned weather forecasters) so we can’t even display publicly paid for data. With regards to the weather stations we do display, we’re only a third party displaying privately owned stations via Wunderground so have no access to history sorry. But you can try Wunderground.com itself for more.
Regards,
– WW
