Another surge of windy weather will cross the North Island overnight Friday and into Saturday before trying to ease across the weekend.
A deep low lies to New Zealand’s east while a large high is building from the west.
The weekend is the transition period between these two air pressure systems, with the high moving into more parts of the country on Monday.
