A weak ridge lies over the North Island today, while a front slowly approaches the South Island with a preceeding northerly airflow. Mostly dry over the country today however some rain develops later in the day on the West Coast of the South Island and in the far south overnight.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Mostly cloudy skies with a few sunny spells now and then, mainly afternoon. Light winds tend northerly later in the day.
Highs: 23-24

Eastern North Island
Sunny with some high cloud at times. Northeasterly breezes, easing in the evening.
Highs: 23-24

Western North Island
Sunny with some cloud, light northerlies tend more westerly in the afternoon. Cloud increases later in the evening.
Highs: 22-23

Nelson & Wellington
Mostly sunny with northerly breezes, becoming breezy about the capital after midday. A few areas of cloud from afternoon too. Becoming totally cloudy in the evening.
Highs: 20-22

Marlborough
Sunny with some high cloud from evening, light winds pick up from the northwest after midday.
Highs: 24-25

Canterbury
Sunny weather after any morning cloud clears, high cloud later in the evening. Light northeasterlies about the coast, winds tend more north to northwest inland.
Highs: 24

West Coast
Mostly sunny with light northerlies, cloud increases from midday then rain moves in later in the evening.
Highs: 19

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with northerly breezes, some high cloud develops late afternoon or evening. Some rain for Southland and western parts of Central Otago overnight.
Highs: 17-21
