The road is still blocked at Ruamahunga Bay and remains closed. However, if you a sprightly and have someone to pick you up it is a relatively easy walk around the shoreline between tides. The road from Tapu to Coromandel and the Tapu-Coroglen road are now open to vehicles but extreme care is needed and they are NOT suitable for campervans. Acces to Coromandel is possible by going via the Kopu-Hikuai Road and through Tairua and Whitianga.
Ruamahunga Bay is likely to remain closed for at least another day

Tapu is still isolated with a slip south near Ruamahanga Bag covering the road, to the north there are slips blocking road to the Coromandel so can’t get there either. Also Tapu Coroglen Road is closed due to slips also – totally isolated in Tapu!!
