A low moves towards the North Island today bringing cloudy skies for the upper half of the island, also the odd shower. Sunnier conditions further south and in the east. In the South Island conditions are fairly tame, a southwesterly flick moves through Southland and Otago during the morning bringing some cloud and the odd shower. As southwest winds reach Canterbury after midday the change will be fairly dry and only late cloud will result.

Auckland & Northland
Mostly cloudy with northeasterly breezes, the odd light shower at times. Rain spreads southwards into Northland during the evening, winds also tend more easterly and pick up.
Highs: 14-16

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Mostly cloudy with light northeasterly breezes, the odd light shower about the Bay Of Plenty spreading into the Waikato and Central North Island during the afternoon.
Highs: 12-16

Eastern North Island
Mainly sunny after any early cloudy breaks away, light winds. Later in the evening southerlies may bring some cloud.
Highs: 16-17

Western North Island
Sunny spells and some cloud, light northerlies tend more westerly in the afternoon south of Taranaki. For northern Taranaki there could be a light shower or two about this morning.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington
Mainly sunny  with northerly winds, a little breezy at times in the afternoon. Overnight southerlies develop bringing some cloud.
High: 14

Nelson
Sunny with light winds tending northerly in the afternoon.
High: 14

Marlborough
Sunny with light winds, southerly winds later in the evening.
High: 16

Canterbury
Sunny with light winds, southerly breezes develop during the afternoon. Some evening cloud moves in.
High: 15

West Coast
Some morning cloud then sunny spells increase from afternoon, light winds tend southerly after midday.
Highs: 12-13

Coastal Otago
Southwesterlies freshen during the morning bringing cloudy periods, especially south of about Dunedin. Chance of a shower at times, once again mainly south of Dunedin. Sunny spells and drier further north.
High: 11-12

Central Otago
Mostly sunny with a few clouds, light winds tend southwest by midday.
High: 13

Southland
Mostly cloudy with a few showers this morning then clearing around midday, brisk cold west to southwest winds ease later in the evening.
Highs: 9-10
