Westerlies lies over the country once again today, a front quickly scoots over the upper South Island and North Island this morning. This will most likely bring a few showers to western areas, eastern regions may only see a period of cloud.

Auckland & Northland
Cloudy spells with west to southwest winds, mainly dry but the odd shower drifts in from the west from time to time.
Highs: 15-16

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Morning showers generally clearing with westerly winds then expect sunny spells from then onwards. In the afternoon there is the further risk of a light shower or two moving in from the west about the Waikato and Central North Island.
Highs: 12-17

Eastern North Island
Mainly sunny with brisk westerly winds, a brief shower is possible however about the Wairarapa in the morning then in the afternoon further north. Winds ease in the evening.
Highs: 16-17

Western North Island
Cloudy periods with brisk westerlies, showers develop this morning then clear early afternoon.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington
Some cloud with gusty northerly winds, around midday winds change southerly with the chance of a brief shower then sunny areas increase. Northerlies develop again by evening.
High: 14

Nelson
Some morning cloud with the chance of a brief shower then mostly sunny. West to southwesterly winds.
High: 15

Marlborough
Sunny with some high cloud this morning for a time, light winds. West to northwesterly winds develop later in the afternoon.
Highs: 16-17

Canterbury
A period of morning cloud with southwesterly winds. Mostly sunny in the afternoon with light winds near the coast, west to northwest breezes inland.
Highs: 15-16

West Coast
Early showers could be heavy and thundery then easing, brisk westerly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Coastal Otago
Mainly sunny with any early cloud clearing, strong gusty westerlies ease off later in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-14

Central Otago
Early morning showers clear then expect mostly sunny weather, west to northwest winds.
High: 11

Southland
Morning showers clear then expect sunny and cloudy spells, gusty westerlies tend more northwest in the afternoon.
High: 11
