A large anticyclone covers much of the South Island today bringing settled and sunny weather. The North Island is fairly settled too however a few showers affect areas north of the Waikato, particularly afternoon. Also the odd shower persists on the east coast north of Hawke’s Bay.

Northland
Some cloud with southeasterly breezes, the odd shower in the east. In the afternoon a few isolated showers develop in other areas. Shower acitivity eases in all areas in the evening.
Highs: 14-15

Auckland
Mostly sunny with southeasterly breezes, some afternoon cloud may produce an isolated shower or two any of which clears in the evening.
High: 16

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Sunny at first, winds tend southeasterly. Some cloud during the afternoon with a few isolated showers possible for the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty, mainly inland. Any showers clear in the evening.
Highs: 12-16

Eastern North Island
Mainly dry about Wairarapa with afternoon sunny spells. The odd shower clears Hawke’s Bay around midday then Gisborne overnight. Southerly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Western North Island
Mostly sunny with southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington
Morning cloud periods, becoming mostly sunny afternoon. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Marlborough and Nelson
Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 14-15

Canterbury
Sunny with easterly breezes near the coast, light winds inland.
High: 13-14

West Coast
Sunny with light winds, some cloud develops afternoon about Fiordland then further north evening and overnight.
Highs: 15-16

Coastal Otago
Sunny after any morning cloud clears, light northeasterly breezes. Evening high cloud.
High: 14

Southland & Central Otago
Sunny with light northerlies, evening high cloud.
Highs: 15-16
