A cold south to southwest airflow lies over the country today. Some places will wake up to a frosty start this morning. Mainly sunny weather for eastern parts of the country, in the west there may be some cloud with the odd shower about.

Northland, Auckland
A mix of sunny and cloudy spells with the odd shower at times, especially in the west. Cold southwesterlies.
Highs: 12-13

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Sunny with southwesterly breezes, there may be some cloud at times about the Waikato and western parts of the Central North Island.
Highs: 11-15

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with light winds tending west to southwest.
Highs: 13-14

Western North Island
Westerly breezes with cloudy spells, the odd shower at times too mainly afternoon.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington
Mostly sunny today with light winds, southerlies develop in the evening and may bring some cloud.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with light winds after a frosty start.
Highs: 12-13

Canterbury
Sunny with light winds tending southwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 9-11

West Coast
Sunny and cloudy spells with southwest breezes, the odd shower at times mainly north of Greymouth.
High: 11

Southland & Otago
Cloudy periods about Southland with brisk westerlies and the odd shower. A mix of sun and cloud elsewhere with westerlies, there is the risk of a shower at times south of about Dunedun on the east coast.
