A ridge lies over New Zealand with a front approaching the south of the country. Mostly settled weather today although expect plenty areas of cloud particularly this morning.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Mostly sunny with light winds tending southerly or southwesterly. Light northerlies in the afternoon for the Bay Of Plenty. North of Auckland expect cloudy areas and there may even be the odd light shower about mainly in the morning.
Highs: 17-21

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with some cloud, light winds tend westerly. Hawkes Bay may see a light onshore wind in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-19

Western North Island
Sunny and cloudy periods with westerlies, cloud thickens late afternoon then the odd shower develops in the evening.
Highs: 17-18

Marlborough & Wellington
Mostly sunny after morning cloud gradually clears away, light winds tend northwest about the capital.
Highs: 16-18

Nelson
Sunny spells increasing, light winds.
High: 19

Canterbury
A mix of sunny and cloudy spells with light winds tending southwest.
High: 17

West Coast
Thick high cloud thinning out towards midday and sunny spells increasing in the afternoon. Light winds. Some cloud about North Westland in the evening however with the low risk of a shower.
High: 17

Southland & Otago
Westerly breezes about Southland with cloudy spells, chance of the odd shower at times. Sunny areas after morning cloud elsewhere, light winds. Overnight a southerly change develops in all areas with showers.
Highs: 15-17
