Gisborne region has a shaky Christmas

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It was a shaky Christmas Day for the Gisborne region.

Residents were first rattled around 3.30pm yesterday.

That deep tremor measured 4.9, and was centred 130 kilometres off Te Araroa at a depth of 79 kilometres.

Wairoa was later rumbled by two quakes – measuring 3.3, and 3.5.

GeoNet says the shakes all felt relatively weak.
