After seven consecutive warmer than average days for many parts of the country this August winter is reminding us it is technically not over yet.

The polar blast that hit Tasmania earlier this week is finally arriving in New Zealand.

Late Saturday looks to be the coldest for the South Island with Sunday a cold day nationwide – but the snow and showers easing.

Frostier weather for some comes in next week – before things warm back up a little again.
